Petromax 來自以卓越工藝著稱的德國，是全世界最知名的汽化燈品牌。
它的命名起源自汽化燈的發明者Max Graetz，
在廿世紀初擁有“Kommerzienrat”–德國最高榮譽市民的頭銜，他的朋友習慣叫他”Petroleum Maxe”，
